Company Name
PolyWaste Technologies Limited (PolyWaste). Hong Kong Registered Company Number 1967372.
Company Description
PolyWaste is an unlisted public company and a Cleantech disrupter.
PolyWaste holds exclusive rights to patented plastic recycling and extrusion technology exclusively under global license from related entity, PolyWaste Intellectual Property Limited of Hong Kong on behalf of Inventor and Founder, the late Ross Collins.
PolyWaste is engaged in the commercialisation of the intellectual property internationally through licensing of waste management companies, recyclers, manufacturers of plastic products, charities operating social programs and landfill operators.
The Opportunity
Recycling clean, segregated, high-grade plastic is common-place, but PolyWaste has recycling technology that effectively produces a new-melt plastic composite made from mixed and soiled film and rigid plastic source materials and extrudes the newmelt plastic into a range of value-added products. This is a break through in recycling technology.
Technology Description
The technology involves the melting of mixed film and low-grade plastic feed-stocks using mechanical (friction) heat.
The new-melt plastic composite can be extruded into non-structural products that can tolerate the characteristics of the in-feed materials. The seond picture to the right shows a ribbon of new-melt plastic flowing from the prototype plant.
New melt-plastic may be formed into recycled products– such as irrigation pipe, synthetic timber, plastic pallets, agricultural posts, and road guideposts, etc.
The ability to incorporate low-grade feed-stock plastics means that raw material costs for new extruded products are substantially lower than that for products from virgin or washed and sorted feed-stocks in traditional processes. In addition, this tolerance makes available for value-adding use a range of soiled and low-grade plastics from the front-end of mechanical-biological waste treatment plants that otherwise are destined for energy recovery or landfill disposal.
A second product based on this technology utilises the unique attribute of the new-melt plastic composite from low-grade soiled feed-stocks such that it can be extruded onto suitable fuel materials (such as coal dust, low-grade coal etc.) in the form of briquettes to manufacture a high calorific value co-fired fuel for multiple combustion applications – such as blast furnaces, coal-fired power stations and cement kilns.
A third product based on this technology is as a containment casing for the transport and/or safe storage of hazardous materials within a recycled plastic casing.
